In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, the Fortune 500 company asked for a digital experience to introduce the brand to a new audience. What they got was a technologically groundbreaking, not to mention award-winning, iOS app.
Combining AR technology with the popularity of photo sharing apps like Instagram led to the creation of My Wild Kingdom: an iOS app allowing users to place life-like 3D models of incredible creatures into their sharable photos and videos, all while earning badges and learning about those animals and the wild kingdom itself.
From the visual design all the way through to the use of the voice of legendary Wild Kingdom host Jim Fowler, My Wild Kingdom provides the user with an experience that stays true to the Wild Kingdom brand while bringing it into the digital age.
In its first quarter, the app surpassed its benchmark goal of downloads, all while increasing web traffic to the Wild Kingdom site and ultimately creating buzz around the 50th anniversary. The app received national press, helped renew interest in the Wild Kingdom brand for a new generation, and was named the FWA Mobile of the Day.
